Visiting, my mother and the vacuum

My mother is here while P is in Sydney for a family wedding. She is tidying up my linen closet - no small job. As an aside she just informed me that my vacuum cleaner bag is clean.

She chastised me yesterday for the state of my vacuum cleaner bag- you know the one that holds the dust, dog hair and old bits of food left on the floor by Gabriella.

She wondered how does my vacuum continue to work given the state of this bag. Well excuse me, I thought those bags were for the express purpose of getting dirty by virtue of the fact that we suck up dirt and associated material up the vacuum cleaner nozzle. My mother continues to perplex me as ever.

Oh dear, that would drive me wild and thank your Mum for reminding me to check the state of my vac bag also. My Mother knows not to carry on with that sort of banter when she visits. Actually, I don't think she's done any housework when she has visited us..even since my daughter arrived almost two years ago. I don't mind, I am a self-confessed control freak!

I hope you can enjoy your weekend regardless.

Hi KP, You learn to take the good with the bad in the end I guess, I am pretty grateful for organising my out-of-control linen cupboard and it is a job I hate having to do almost as much as cleaning the fridge, but the food hygiene has much more impetus involved than disorganised linen. I just have to laugh at her reasoning these days, clean vacuum bags and I don't mean just emptying it (cos I do that), my mother has bashed, washed and conditioned mine and hung it out to dry!

One more thing....

I had to write and tell you this, it has had me quite amused for the past week. When I went to collect my daughter from her childcare centre last Friday I noticed a little girl that looked very familiar to me and she was wearing an even more familiar looking colourful necklace. Indeed, I am certain it was your Gabriella. How can the internet be so large yet so close?

My daughter is finishing up there this week though as we are moving her to a centre in the CBD.

Anyway, I had no real reason to post this except that either I have a photographic memory for faces or that she has a very memorable face ;-)

I am sure you are right KP, Holy Cow! It's 6 degrees of separation come to life.

She has worn that necklace there nearly every Friday except yesterday. Her Baba - her beloved aunty who minds her most of the week made it for her and she rarely takes it off, it is like her signature piece. If you ask her where she got it from she will say quite clearly "Baba made it"

I got a note yesterday that said children are not to wear jewellery there so I won't be letting her wear it again.

The internet never ceases to amaze me because while it can be a scary place there are little patches like mine which invite lovely anecdotes like yours.

How gorgeous she is. I also read that note, my DD wears a silver bangle on her arm and it never comes off so it's probably a good thing that she's moving. Funnily enough I have seen a few people in real life since reading their blogs. I know I should start my own but know that I've seen how easy it is to track us down I'm unsure. I would like to for my daughter's sake I suppose. Mmmm, I'll keep thinking abou that.

I am hoping that it will only ever be a happy coincide as with you and not someone seeking to track us down. Wishful thinking maybe, and I am sure my husband would say naieve - he understands the food blog better.

I hope people with the same intent as me seek out the same blogs, to connect with ordinary lives and not those in glossy magazines the must be as fake as they look.

I had and still have the same reservations as you but I decided when I started to just let go and so far in this process have only had good things happen like having met one fellow blogger. We catch up for lunch in the city sometimes and now conversing with you.

If I get a bad vibe though I would certainly be out.

Yes, I think our woman's intuition certainly alerts us! You keep enjoying your weekend and I look forward to seeing more wonderful food pictures soon. KP
